“I saw a frozen country. An isolated and determined generation. A counter-culture on its last legs, but one that is holding out.”
Augustin Rebetez
As part of the Geneva Art Week, the Centre de la photographie Genève invites Swiss artist Augustin Rebetez, who presents Tomorrow Never together with musician REA.
Tomorrow Never brings together photographs taken in Russia between 2018 and 2023 in the regions of the Urals, Siberia, Yakutia and the Far East.
Initially invited to take up an artist’s residency in Yekaterinburg, Augustin Rebetez was quickly drawn to the harshness of the winters, the vast distances, but also by the warmth of the people he met.
How do young people in the provinces live? What are they like? What is it like to grow up under an authoritarian regime? What can still be created in Russia today?
