The project SPOTS has several facets: two photography exhibitions, a series of postcards and a round table. The project draws on the skills and experiences of people living with disabilities who attend the association Cerebral Genève’s leisure centre. Sixteen guides with disabilities took part in the project. They chose the ‘spots’ they particularly like and worked with professional photographers on site. In partnership with the Centre de la photographie Genève, three photographers from French-speaking Switzerland, recognised for their commitment and originality, were invited to work with the guides of the project SPOTS: Aude Mayer, Sarah Carp, and Matthieu Gafsou. Each person chose several locations, resulting in a total of 30 photographs. The resulting photographs are on display on the Plainpalais plain and at the Comédie de Genève, visible and accessible at all times from the public space, in a scenography designed by the Geneva-based design studio Onlab.
The project was initiated and led by the associations Cerebral Genève and A l’Ouest et par-delà, in close collaboration with the Centre de la Photographie Genève. Founded in 1958, the association Cerebral offers leisure activities to people living with cerebral palsy. It also offers support, information and advice to families and loved ones. The association A l’Ouest et par-delà is an expert in the field of mediation and the realisation of artistic projects related in particular to disability and singularity.
The guides of the project are: Alessia Bleve, Thomas Calo, Samuel Cosendai, Sofia Cvintal, Tom del Coso, Noémie Dussex, Jesse Furlbur, Pierre-Alain Goetschmann, Ismaêl Hadifi, Frédéric Kessler, Nathan Kiper, Robin Leisi, Hamza Maddi, Imina Omokaro, Lysiane Pakter, Koba Prevedello, Sammy Shalaby, Salvatore Sortino, Céline Rod.
