This one-day workshop is for artists and photographers who have an ongoing project and wish to deepen their understanding of the research methodology that accompanies it. It offers an exploration of concrete approaches to nurturing and structuring a project, combining theoretical reflection, field immersion and visual experimentation.
Over the day, the workshop will focus on structuring an artistic research project, using materials such as images, texts or archives, and field experience. Each participant will benefit from moments of collective work, including a presentation of their current project. Discussions will be based on examples of artistic projects and feedback, in order to collectively analyse the issues specific to each approach. The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the structure and depth of current projects by developing a methodology adapted to each approach. Participants are asked to bring a project currently in development as well as any relevant materials (portfolio, prints, digital files and/or notebooks).
Olga Cafiero is a Swiss photographer of Italian origin based in Lausanne. A graduate of ECAL in photography and art direction, she develops work at the crossroads of art and science. Inspired by scientific protocols and their visual language, her photographs explore the tensions between the visible and the invisible, methodical rigour and poetic wonder. She questions the ability of images to capture complex phenomena by creating a dialogue between nature, technology and memory.
The workshop takes place in person in Geneva. It is given in French (exchanges in English and Italian possible). Registration is mandatory using the online form until 25 February 2026 (7 participants maximum).
