After studying in Geneva and Cracow, the artist set up several collaborative entities, including N3krozoft Ltd, the web-performance collective Æther9, and the postdigital publishing house Greyscale Press. It is with Greyscale Press that he published a collection of lectures by Jacob Appelbaum (see p.XX). Besides making available the Appelbaum collection, whose militant content is part of a technical, political, and social initiative for the protection of our freedoms and the respect of privacy on the internet, Schmalstieg has launched a wanted notice to find people who have been inadvertently photographed in Geneva by the famous Google Street View Car.
