Christiane Eisler & Silke Geister * 1958 in Berlin, lives in Leipzig

Christiane Eisler came to Leipzig for her studies at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst. In 1983, two books were published under the title “Ich trage ein Herz mit mir herum” with photographs of a Jugendwerkhof (a place for difficult young people in the former GDR) and punks in Berlin. Punk portrait exhibitions were banned or closed in East Germany in the late 1980s. In 1988, she made study trips to Algeria and Russia and in 1990 she opened the photo transit agency in Leipzi [...]

Together with Silke Geister, she also documented women’s workplaces in the series “Luxus Arbeit : Meine Mutter war auch nur eine Frau” (1990-1992).
